Masking Tape Video

Masking tape is not boring! Well a few years back, it was. There was only one type of masking tape. But today, there is a variety of masking tapes. One tape will not do all the taping jobs. For example, if you are painting a wall with two different colors, you can not use traditional masking tape to cover the new paint immediately. The glue will pull the paint off the wall.

The differences in the tapes is the adhesive. The traditional masking tape has a rubberized adhesive. It is very sticky. It also has a solvent base and sunlight will activate it. If you leave it on for too long, you will not be able to get it off.

There are new light weight masking tapes that are gentle to the surfaces. Some have water based adhesives. You can apply them to delicate surfaces and they will peel off without a problem.

Masking tapes can only be applied for a specific length of time. Check the label to be sure. It will also tell you what the tape is designed for.

There is a special masking tape that has a scale or ruler markings. Great when you are doing a room with stripes and you need to have measurements handy.

Check out the new masking tapes and get the proper one for your next project. Clean up will be a whole lot easier.
