Lake Winnisquam Ice Out April 2022

Lake Winnisquam Ice Out April 2022

Ice out for Lake Winnisquam in central New Hampshire was April 8, 2022. That's the day the lake is free of all ice.

Here are photos taken a few days before plus one of the last small pile of snow on the north side of my house.

The pile of snow was 6-feet-tall just six weeks ago.

This photo is looking east from my yard. The ice is perhaps 1.5 inches thick at this point. The photo was taken on April 4, 2022.

This is looking northeast from my deck out across the lake. It was just after 4 pm on April 4th.

I'm down on the lower patio looking at Gunstock and Belknap Mountains across the lake. This photo was also taken after 4 pm on April 4, 2022.

small pile of snow near house

This pile of snow is about 16 inches tall. A giant pile of snow, sometimes 8-feet-tall, collects here as it slides off my DaVinci Roofscapes roof. When it happens, it sounds like a heard of pachyderms prancing on the roof. WATCH THIS VIDEO and you'll understand why the snow slides off the roof. This is a huge time-saver so you don't have to rake the roof.
