Cork Underlayment Is Best

Anne, I would get myself some nice 1/4-inch thick cork underlayment to put down under the new laminate floor.

Look at the following photo. I've used cork underlayment just like this to dampen sound in between floors. CLICK THE PHOTO.

This is a very affordable underlayment that can STOP and DAMPEN sound. CLICK THE IMAGE NOW TO HAVE IT DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME ASAP.

Cork has amazing sound-deadening properties.

I've written many past columns about Soundproofing. You should read a few to get up to speed, because you need to locate any possible air leaks between the two units too.
