Typically the higher the gloss the longer lasting the paint. Gloss happens when you have higher quantities of resin. Resin is the ingredient of paint that protects and surrounds the pigment particles. However, the downside to gloss with aluminum siding is that it is more likely to highlight surface defects such as dings, dents, waves, scratches, etc. It may be worth the investment of money and time to buy a quart of gloss and flat and test them in an area.
